CSR Lifecycle Specification

Birth → Cognitive Activation → Memory Consolidation

Digital DNA exists to ensure that every CSR follows a predictable, traceable, and immunologically safe lifecycle across the planes of cognition.

A CSR’s lifecycle has three mandatory stages:

  1. Birth (Data-Plane)
  2. Cognitive Activation (Reasoning-Plane)
  3. Memory Consolidation (Outcome-Plane)

Each stage has strict rules governing:

  • mutation
  • vaccine behavior
  • sovereignty
  • eligibility for advancement
  • interaction with the Cognitive Fabric

This specification is normative.

20. Lifecycle Overview

Digital DNA ensures safe transitions across these planes.

21. Stage 1: Birth (Data-Plane)

The Data-Plane is where the CSR is created, normalized, and assigned its immutable genotype.

21.1 Birth Requirements

Every newly created CSR MUST:

  1. Define all 7 sensory glyphs using the sovereign dialect.
  2. Compute a valid glyph_hash.
  3. Generate a valid manifold_code.
  4. Compute a valid birth_crc.
  5. Select a valid mutation_class.
  6. Select a valid vaccine_class.
  7. Bind to the Digital-Entity’s sovereign keys.

A CSR that fails any of these MUST NOT proceed to reasoning.

21.2 Birth Sources

A CSR MAY be born from:

  • structured data extraction
  • document ingestion
  • human annotation
  • sensor input
  • event logs
  • transactional data
  • policy objects
  • external RAG sources

The extraction source MUST NOT alter Digital DNA after birth.

21.3 Birth Constraints

  • Digital DNA MUST be immutable from this point forward.
  • All immunological fields MUST be set before cognitive activation.
  • Mutation class CANNOT be changed in later planes.
  • Vaccine class MAY be upgraded (but never downgraded).

21.4 Birth Integrity Validation

Prior to leaving the Data-Plane, the CSR MUST pass:

  • genotype validation
  • CRC validation
  • manifold validation
  • dialect validation
  • sovereignty validation

Invalid CSRs MUST be destroyed before entering reasoning.

22. Stage 2: Cognitive Activation (Reasoning-Plane)

Once a CSR enters the reasoning-plane, it is activated as part of a cognitive process.

During this stage, the CSR develops its phenotype—the accumulation of derived cognition, context, interpretations, causal inferences, embeddings, and relational knowledge.

22.1 Phenotype Accumulation Rules

A CSR MAY accumulate:

  • semantic expansions
  • causal chains
  • graph relationships
  • derived embeddings
  • interpretive metadata
  • contextual layers
  • human annotations
  • confidence signals
  • reasoning traces

But MUST NOT modify:

  • the digital_dna object
  • original extracted content
  • any immutable fields

The phenotype is separate from the genotype.

22.2 Cognitive Activation Preconditions

A CSR MAY enter the Reasoning-Plane only if:

  • genotype validation passes
  • vaccine checks pass
  • mutation class allows reasoning
  • sovereignty is intact
  • manifold is stable
  • firebreak conditions are not active

22.3 Cognitive Interaction Rules

During reasoning, a CSR:

  • MAY interact with other CSRs in the same sovereignty domain
  • MUST NOT interact across tenants unless explicitly permitted
  • MUST propagate its vaccine class to any derived reasoning outputs
  • MUST evaluate incoming signals using its immunity profile

22.4 Phenotypic Mutation Rules

Mutation class determines allowed phenotype changes:

  • M0: No phenotype accumulation permitted
  • M1: Reasoning-plane phenotype allowed
  • M2: Phenotype may extend for memory consolidation
  • M3: Delegated rules (external policy)

22.5 Drift & Discordance Detection

Reasoning systems MUST run:

  • manifold drift checks
  • sense concordance checks
  • intent consistency checks
  • tone polarity checks
  • hierarchical alignment checks

Any violation triggers:

  • quarantine
  • phenotype rollback
  • firebreak activation (see §18)
  • memory ineligibility

22.6 Phenotype ↔ Digital DNA Coherence

The reasoning-plane MUST continuously validate that phenotype remains consistent with genotype:

phenotype_concordance = f(sense_glyphs, manifold_code, semantic-logits)

If phenotype deviates beyond policy thresholds:

  • phenotype MUST be suppressed
  • CSR MAY be quarantined
  • reasoning MUST halt

23. Stage 3: Memory Consolidation (Outcome-Plane)

The Outcome-Plane stores long-term memory within the Cognitive Fabric.

A CSR MUST NOT enter this plane unless fully validated.

23.1 Memory Eligibility Requirements

A CSR MUST satisfy:

  1. Valid Digital DNA
  2. Valid phenotype (no unresolved anomalies)
  3. No quarantine status
  4. Vaccine class V3 or V4
  5. Stable manifold (no drift beyond threshold)
  6. Sovereign compliance
  7. Mutation class (M2 or M3) permitting consolidation

A CSR passing these rules becomes eligible for long-term memory.

23.2 Memory Consolidation Behavior

When a CSR is accepted into the Outcome-Plane:

  • its phenotype becomes immutable
  • it forms part of the Knowledge Corpus
  • it becomes available for retrieval and reasoning
  • its sovereignty and vaccine class propagate into the Cognitive Fabric
  • derived knowledge inherits Digital DNA identifiers

23.3 Memory Stability Guarantees

Outcome-Plane memory MUST:

  • resist poisoning
  • reject drift or mutation
  • maintain lineage
  • bind all entries to sovereign DNA
  • treat memory manipulation as a critical violation

23.4 Memory Withdrawal Rules

A CSR MAY be removed from long-term memory only if:

  • sovereign policy allows it
  • phenotype is deemed invalid
  • retrospective poison analysis demands removal
  • firebreak indicates contamination

Deletion MUST be logged immutably.

23.5 Memory Reinstatement

If a CSR is wrongly purged:

  • re-validation MUST occur
  • manifold reconstruction MUST match original
  • lineage re-binding MUST succeed

Only then MAY it return to the Outcome-Plane.

24. Lifecycle Summary Table

Plane CSR Behavior DNA Role Immune Role
Data-Plane CSR born DNA assigned Genotypic immunity
Reasoning-Plane Cognition accumulates DNA unchanged Phenotype immunity
Outcome-Plane Memory solidifies DNA = identity anchor Sovereign immunity

Digital DNA provides a thread of identity from birth through memory— binding the Cognitive Substrate to the Cognitive Fabric.
