10. Example: Military Projection of Autonomous Systems

A military AI concern is not necessarily governed by a “military domain.”

For example, a semi-autonomous reconnaissance drone belongs first to the Mediation Domain of Autonomous Systems.

Its military projection may add:

  • command authority,
  • rules of engagement,
  • mission boundaries,
  • lawful order constraints,
  • escalation rules,
  • operational secrecy,
  • human command requirements.

But the underlying Domain of Concern may still share a mediation structure with other autonomous systems.

The concern is not “military AI” in the abstract.

The concern may be:

Unauthorized autonomous action

or:

Out-of-envelope autonomous behavior

or:

High-consequence action under excessive uncertainty

Those concerns can be calculated using a mediation vector that includes authority, intent alignment, boundary compliance, environmental confidence, reversibility, human control, consequence severity, safeguard state, traceability, and uncertainty.
