Ownership

The Autonomous Intelligence Governance Protocol (AIGP) and all materials in this specification are the proprietary work product of Kanjani AI Research & Causum. Commercial licensing of the Protocol is administered exclusively by Causum.

AIGP is not an open standard, an open-source specification, an IETF submission, or a public-domain material. The term “RFC” is used throughout as an internal drafting convention — “Request for Comment” within a private specification-development process — and carries no implication of publication as a public standard.

What is free

You may, at no fee and without time limit:

Read, study, and reference this specification
Prototype and experiment with implementations outside production
Run conformance tests in non-production environments
Publish independent research concerning the Protocol, with attribution

This is the Evaluation tier. “Evaluation Use” means use outside of production operation and not in support of any revenue-generating product, service, or business process.

What requires a license

An Operating License is required to derive Commercial Value from the Protocol. Commercial Value means economic benefit derived from the Protocol, whether or not the Protocol or any implementation of it is itself sold, licensed, or otherwise transferred to any third party.

This includes operating the Protocol in production in support of a product you sell, embedding it in such a product, self-hosting a governance runtime that enforces decisions, and — notably — operating the Protocol in support of an internal business process that contributes to revenue. Running AIGP internally to improve a product you sell requires an Operating License, even if AIGP itself is never sold or distributed.

A Consumer License is required, separately, to access the Governance IP — the architectures, mathematical foundations, research papers, and reference implementations for consuming and analyzing AIGP-emitted data.

Full tier definitions, including the treatment of licenses accepted under Version 2.0 of the Vendor License Agreement, are in the AIGP Vendor License Agreement.

Grant of access

Access to this specification, or to any document within it, does not constitute a license to practice, implement in production, sublicense, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on any mechanism described herein. No license is granted by implication, estoppel, publication, repository access, discussion, review, or receipt of these materials.

Patent rights

The subject matter described in this specification may be protected by pending, planned, or future patent applications, trade secret rights, copyright, contractual rights, and other intellectual property rights. All patent rights are expressly reserved.

No patent license is granted, whether expressly, by implication, by estoppel, by publication, by repository access, or otherwise. Any patent license must be granted separately and in writing. Publication of this specification does not constitute a waiver of any patent right, trade secret right, or other intellectual property right, whether or not an application has been filed.

Reference implementations

All reference implementations in this repository are proprietary and covered by the Protocol’s commercial terms described above.

The aigp-client SDKs are thin wrappers that delegate governance decisions to a server. The aigp-light packages run governance locally — policy evaluation, response action determination, and enforcement. Both require an Operating License when used to derive Commercial Value.
